With over 30 years of music experience I have played in a variety of bands over the years. In 1997 my band 4wayIndependence recorded an album, which became popular in the states and is still available on I tunes today.
In 1999 I did a placement as part of his course work at the Gateway social club ,an evening provider for adults in Bolton on Wednesday nights. I supported the people who went and also became the DJ for a year:
In 2000 I achieved a B tech Professional Award in creative therapy, studying dance, visual studies, arts & crafts; music therapy creative writing, health & social care.
In 2003 I started working as a support worker for a well known company in Bolton I came up with an idea which became very successful in the company and lasted more than 8 years. This was to start a therapeutic music group for the people who I supported within the company. It went from 2 hours a week to a full day.It was said ” that this music group sessions reduced incidents by 85% over the weekends, this was the most successful activity within the company.
I then realised that I wanted to set my own business up and offer my music services to people with disabilities of Bolton & beyond.
In 2012 I started music4confidence.co.uk and never looked back.
In April 2018 Music4confidence celebrated its 6 th Birthday in style with a cake and pasty and peas for all the people who attend.
I am still a support worker, supporting a young person with an acquired brain injury with complex needs.
